Public Law

Griffith, Masuda & Hobbs has been advising public agencies since at least the 1930's. Today we are general counsel to six water agencies and special water counsel to three water agencies. Those agencies are located in Butte, San Joaquin, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Stanislaus, Merced, San Benito, and Monterey. We are also general counsel to two energy-related joint powers agencies and a mosquito abatement district. California public agencies regardless of type are subject to many of the same laws, such as the Brown Act, Public Records Act, resolutions and ordinances, government contracts and public works projects, rules and regulations, conflicts of interest, Fair Political Practices Act, Propositions 218 and 26 fees, charges, assessments, and taxes, CEQA, LAFCO, joint powers agencies, and civil litigation. By representing a variety of public agencies, Griffith, Masuda & Hobbs has achieved a synergy of experience and expertise, which in turn increases our ability to provide responsive, effective, and efficient legal services.
